Ben Armstrong, BSc MSc FGs

General Manager

Ben has 20 years’ experience in delivering ground investigation projects throughout the UK, contracts valued up to £3.5m.  Key skills include technical data analysis and interpretive report writing and authorisation. Responsible for a team of engineers, field operatives, foremen and technical laboratory staff.


Mark Lane, NVQ Land Drilling (level 3)

Site Operations Manager

Mark has 30 years’ experience in drilling, supervising and managing ground investigation projects throughout the UK. With extensive knowledge of drilling and monitoring techniques, Mark coordinates all site operations ensuring the highest quality and health/safety standards are maintained.


Adam Barnard, BSc (Hons) MSc FGs

Principal Engineer

Adam has over 13 years’ experience in organising and supervising ground investigations both onshore and offshore in more than 10 countries. He has extensive knowledge of geotechnical fieldwork and experience in both factual and interpretive report writing. Adam is currently responsible for the engineering team at GTS.

Chris Heslin

Business Development Manager

Chris has over 10 years’ experience in business development and is the initial point of contact for clients. With a strong understanding of ground investigation activities Chris will assist in developing an appropriate scope and cost efficient quotation for your project.


James Elliott, BDA

Laboratory Manager

James has 25 years’ experience in intrusive field and laboratory testing activities.  With state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, James oversees all soil and concrete testing and is responsible for maintaining and further developing our range of UKAS accredited tests.
